Product Owner

Job description

We’re looking for a tactical strategizer with laser-sharp focus, who can turn visions into reality and prioritise like no other.

Let us introduce ourselves first.

Hi! We are FunXtion, a digital fitness experience company. We provide gyms with the tools to stay relevant in this fast-paced, ever-changing digital landscape. We do this by offering them energising content and better delivery systems (e.g. apps, portals) so their members can train with them anytime, anywhere. We help some of the largest and best-known companies in the world (such as Fitness First, Goodlife and Anytime Fitness).

As a self-managing professional at FunXtion, we believe that you can make good and innovative work when you have the freedom to do it your way. This means we are looking for people who are not only passionate about their profession but who can work well autonomously and as part of a pretty cool team. Are you one of those people? Great! Because we are now looking for a Full-Time Product Owner!

When someone asks what you do for work, you say:

“I work for one of the coolest companies in the Netherlands, called FunXtion. I play an important role in making sure we create the highest quality product we can for our clients. Think about things like making strategic plans for our development team to follow. Or prioritising, reviewing and managing our progress towards these goals in order to create the highest quality product we possibly can for our clients.”

But what you really do:

Your title says that you’re the Product Owner, but you’re more like an agile ‘Problem Owner’. You understand the customer’s pains, empathise with your customer’s problems and own getting those problems solved with whatever means are most effective - along with your awesome team of dedicated developers, of course. Depending on your skillset and expertise, you will be in charge of either our in-club, app or portal product and will work hard to optimise this product until its users find it to be the most fantastic solution ever. This means that you can expertly manage its stakeholders and take charge of the developers with your awesome time-management, prioritisation and team management skills. You’re accountable for effective product backlog management, including developing and communicating the product goal, creating and clearly communicating its items until they’re easily understood by your team, and taking full ownership of sprint review meetings. Sometimes, this means that you may do some of the work yourself or delegate the responsibility to others. You also understand that you work as part of a larger team, collaborating closely with the customer support team, implementation manager, and other product owners so that our services run smoothly.

In addition, you’re the master of:

  • Creating very strict and concrete user stories, plans, and acceptance criteria

  • Gathering the right feedback from users and adjusting the strategy accordingly

  • Prioritising tasks and organising backlog items according to value

Job requirements

Besides being Lord of the Product, you:

  • Have a few years of experience in a Product Owner role (let’s say 2-3 years), or are you ready to take the next step in your career into this position

  • Make difficult decisions but with clear, rational

  • Living in the Netherlands, Amsterdam

  • Work fast but flexibly and creatively

  • Are capable of taking a high-level perspective to define and create the vision for the project

  • Follow the product roadmap as closely as possible

  • Respect your team’s boundaries and listen to their concerns while supporting them to make sure the work they need to get done ultimately gets done

And in return, you get:
